All
of the paperwork for obtaining your JAMAICAN marriage license
will be completed and forwarded to "Weddings
in Jamaica" prior to your arriving in JAMAICA. Each
resort has its own requirements as to when these documents must be
at the resort. The usual requirements are (45) to (60) days prior
to your wedding date. Following the wedding, the resort will send
your signed marriage license to be filed as a legal document. They
will receive back a certified copy of this marriage license, which
they will mail directly to you. Each resort is responsible to ensure
that you received this certified copy. At the time of your wedding,
remember to ask the on-site wedding coordinator how long it will be,
after the wedding, until you receive your certified marriage license.
YOUR
JAMAICAN MINISTER
All
of our ministers are non-denominational in their wedding ceremony
and vow presentations. Because we do not always know until very close
to your wedding date, which minister will be performing your ceremony,
the actual wedding ceremony and vows are not available in advance
and varies dependent upon the minister. JAMAICA does not have notaries,
who perform wedding, or a justice of the peace. All ministers are
licensed by the JAMAICA government and are very good at what they
do. If you have your own minister, who is traveling with you and you
would like to participate in your ceremony, they are always welcomed
by your JAMAICA minister but please remember that the JAMAICA minister
must perform the vows and do the pronouncement at the end. He also
must perform the signing of the marriage license with you.
