Because the resorts of Jamaica cater to such a large "wedding" request from their couples, the resorts each have multiple sites for you to choose from for your wedding ceremony . . . from a beach site, gazebo area to the tropical gardens, you may select which site at the resort, where you would like to have your wedding. While "Weddings in Jamaica" does assist you with the detailed planning of your wedding day, we do suggest that you wait until you arrive at the resort to select your site, as you can then see in person exactly what each site has to offer and can quickly agree between the two of you which site is the PERFECT one for you. Your Jamaican Minister While
each resort does have their own group of ministers, who are contracted
with their resort to do the weddings, the ministers are all non-denominational
in their wedding ceremony and vows presentations. Because the resort
does not know until very close to your wedding date, which minister
will be performing your ceremony, the actual wedding ceremony and
vows are not available in advance and varies dependent upon the minister.
Jamaica does not have notaries, who perform weddings, or a
justice of the peace. All ministers are licensed by the Jamaica
government and are very good at what they do. If you have your own
minister, who is traveling with you and you would like to participate
in your ceremony, they are always welcomed by your Jamaica
minister but please remember that the Jamaica minister must
perform the vows and do the pronouncement at the end. He also must
perform the signing of the marriage license with you.
